There are 4 very important things for the bride of JESUS CHRIST/follower of CHRIST to do on a daily basis. They are listed below and this post and the future following posts will explain each of these in details.
- Full Remorseful Repentance
- Complete Surrender to GOD
- Intimacy with GOD
- Watching for the LORD’s Return
There are of course many other important things to consider when we are to walk in that “narrow path” unto eternal life. But what have been highlighted above are part of the most important aspects of what to do, as a follower of CHRIST. Before getting into these four things–here is a verse that are in relation to the subject matter “eternity” in which this blog have also titled in regards of this.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:17
This verse is very clear about those who does the “WILL OF GOD” would abide forever, not those who just proclaim “Lord, Lord” (Matthew 7:21-23) would enter into eternal life, unto the Kingdom of Heaven. We should always pursue the perfect will and plan of GOD for us. We ought to rely on the power of HIS HOLY SPIRIT every moment, not on our own flesh–to change us, to sanctify us, to empower us into accomplishing HIS WILL. Without the LORD we can do nothing (John 15:5).
Here is another verse in relation– in Matthew 7:21-23 it says:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Those who does the will of GOD shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, NOT those who disregard HIS will and have HIM only as their part-time LORD and MASTER. It must be full-time to have HIM as our LORD and MASTER, even in the storm.
Full Remorseful Repentance
First of all, you need to know what “Sin” is about, and that knowledge comes from reading the Holy Bible. Below are some verses about “Sin” and other related things. It is strongly recommended that you also read the Holy Bible (King James Version is recommended) to know what types of things would be a sin, if you have little or no idea what this is about:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Romans 3:10-12
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Romans 5:8-9
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Romans 3:28-30
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. Romans 9:30
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Galatians 2:16
Secondly, do you know just one single sin, no matter how small it is–a person would be damned to hell torment forever? For example, stealing (Exodus 20:15) a post-it-note from work is a sin. Sin is sin, we must NOT make excuses by thinking it is not a sin and then compromise towards the will of GOD. Both of them, one of them who steals the post-it-note and the other steals a car would all go to hell, unless they have true remorseful repentance over their own sin.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:14-15
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 23:14
The bible talked about “greater damnation” means there are different gravity of punishment for sinners of different levels of iniquity. Therefore, if two person go to hell torment, one of them have much more iniquities than the other, then he who had more iniquities would have more sufferings.
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3
For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Luke 8:17
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Psalm 11:7
We are made in the image of GOD (Genesis 1:27), HE is eternal (Genesis 21:33) and thus, our spirits are eternal as well. The consequence of sin is eternal–eternal torment in hell (Matthew 13:50, Matthew 25:46, 2 Thessalonians 1:9). However, through the precious blood of JESUS CHRIST, it have the power to cleanse you from all your sins (1 John 1:7) no matter how much sins you have through the repentance of sins–we are also to confess our sins before GOD. For me, I would want to do it in a daily basis. Then asking for HIS forgiveness for our known and unknown sins, then asking HIM to keep revealing the unknown sins for us to repent them. When HIS HOLY SPIRIT reveals the unknown sin to you, you ought not to delay repentance. Delaying repentance is very dangerous of risking one’s eternal outcome negatively.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
Our soul and spirit remains after the death of the physical body. GOD is the only perfect righteous judge of all, and as the bride of CHRIST, we are to strive for righteousness. This seems to be a hard work–yes, it is a hard work and in my experience it becomes easier when you continue to yield to the will of GOD. One thing to remember that may help you not to worry:
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30
Through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT as we continually to pray for HIS complete filling everyday–conquering sins and evils would not be much of a burden when we have the help from the HOLY SPIRIT to do the will of GOD. We are also to keep submitting to GOD, while filling up with HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
Thirdly, do you know that just one unrepentant sin can lead a person to hell? If you do, you may see how having FULL repentance is very important. This includes forgiving everyone in a continuous sense. Not forgiving just some–but ALL. Forgiving all is extremely essential because without it while you are holding unforgiveness in your heart in regards of someone’s trespasses–it can cause you to lose your very own salvation. Here is a post in details about the importance of forgiving others and related things.
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:11
Now, you may ask – What does it mean to have “full remorseful repentance”? Well, we must have a sincere remorse over ALL our sins that have committed against GOD. It is like when you are in that attitude you may say “Sorry LORD, for I know I was wrong for my sins…” and there including the types of sins you may have done throughout the day, for example–maliciousness. For me, I would want to confess my sins and repent throughout the day, everyday, because I am still in the flesh and do stumble often–see this verse below about confession:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Repentance leads to righteousness, and that righteousness comes from the blood of JESUS CHRIST alone. When a person is truly remorseful for his sins, he would try his best not to sin again. One of the main goal for the true bride of CHRIST is to strive for a Sinless Life. Although the person may possibly fall again into sin, but that doesn’t mean he is a failure and a necessary blockage for him to change his mind that sinning is okay–in fact, Sinning is Absolutely NOT Okay. Do NOT give the smallest foothold to the enemy, the devil; who whispers lies to you for example saying “You are a failure, there is no hope in you”, “You are not a child of God”, “Remember your past guilt and shame because of your sins.”, “You do not deserve to be saved.”…etc. Again, do NOT listen and accept the lies of the enemy. You will have what you believe if you keep dwelling in negativity, such as “You do not deserve to be saved because your sins are too shameful and guilty.” (oh really? really? the truth is that no matter how much sins you have committed, the blood of JESUS can cleanse away all your sins. but that doesn’t mean you can sin blatantly–grieving the HOLY SPIRIT. it is total blasphemy to GOD to say that there is not enough saving power in HIS blood that was shed on the cross to save us away from hell torment and be able to reconciled to GOD, living with HIM in the next life in Heaven–eternal life, an eternal bliss.) Letting this into your mind, you are giving victory to your enemy. When you accept these lies into your mind, you may start to have doubt on your salvation and remember, we are saved through being justified by faith in CHRIST, and doubt is the opposite of faith! We are to put our complete trust in GOD.
Do not be frustrated when you stumble in your sins–patience, self control–these are some of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), we must endure until the end to be saved. (Matthew 24:13), otherwise it will be all in vain. Overcoming our sins is not an overnight process. When the bible says something is a sin, it is a sin. Do not change the scripture and twist it to tickle your ears to suit your worldly taste, lest you become lukewarm whom GOD will spit out of HIS mouth.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Revelation 3:16-17
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4
There are different gravity of punishment for sins, in an eternal perspective. It is better for those who have known GOD whom continue to reject HIM not to know HIM at the first place.
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. Proverbs 26:11
We must love what GOD loves and hate what GOD hates. We must hate sins. Below are some verses that may encourage you:
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 24:16
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
