Let’s continue reading at Exodus 10:
And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. Exodus 10:22-23
This darkness happens after the locusts in the same chapter. The verse above said that the children of Israel had light in their dwellings while there was a thick darkness came over in all the land of Egypt. It was like GOD made a pronounced difference between the Egyptians and HIS children-the Israelites. Looking at a spiritual standpoint from now is that it was a time of separation.
There are many explorations of events that took place in a 3 days time period. The separation that stood out, is like those that are of the world and those that are of The LORD.
There was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days; during those three days was about HIS people and provisions as HE provided what they needed during this time of darkness. In regards of provisions, it actually runs deeper than that, because there were spiritual things that need to be understood.
In Matthew 27, there was another 3 days event, that is the death, burial and resurrection of CHRIST. The body of CHRIST goes from a fleshly body to a new body, because HE was into the grave with a fleshly body and came out of the grave with a new body. There was a change in the body of CHRIST.
In Acts 9, another 3 days event was that Saul who have persecuted Christians, had an encounter with CHRIST. It was a vivid vision of CHRIST, and CHRIST asked him “Why persecutest thou me?”. After the vision, Saul was blinded for 3 days and then afterwards the blindness had left him, of course his eyes were opened. This man was obviously spiritually in the dark because he persecuted Christians and was a wicked man. He had an encounter with CHRIST, which had opened his eyes. In this 3 days of darkness, which is the 3 days of blindness that Saul had experienced, and Saul went on to be Paul. To keep it brief, he did great works for The LORD. He went from being a persecutor of Christians to being persecuted for his testimony. In his three days of darkness, he went from being spiritually dead to being enlightened in having his eyes opened.
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, Acts 9:1
And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? Acts 9:4
And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. Acts 9:9
Another significant 3 days period that took place was the 3 days that Jonah spent in the belly of the whale. It was described that he was running away from GOD, which means that he was in a backslidden condition. He did not want to do what GOD instructed him to do and then ended up in the belly of the whale for 3 days. During his 3 days of experience, he came back to The LORD, and was ready to follow the LORD. He had the change of heart and repented to the LORD.
So, there are 3 different things happening in 3 days event, that are very significant to things that relate to spiritual life and growth in our walk with CHRIST, going from the darkness of the flesh like Saul to be in a spiritually enlightened state having our eyes opened. If we are in a backslidden state, then we have to repent and come back to The LORD to follow HIM. A very important thing is that the body of CHRIST was transformed in a 3 days period, from being a fleshly body to a new body. There was also a significance about the provisions for GOD’s people, the Israelites who were being provided the light in the darkness and what they needed.
The bride, the backslider and the lost will be discussed, but firstly let’s look at the bride. One thing about the bride is the pureness of her heart. The bride is the one who are watching and praying. In the scriptures, it says “watch and pray” more than once.
See this verse below about it:
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke 21:36
We are to watch for the promise of The LORD’s return, to pray for guidance, The LORD’s will and to grow a relationship with HIM. The bride are the faithful ones, who are watching HIS promise, seeking HIS will in their life and an intimacy relationship with GOD.
This is one of an excellent verse that describe the qualities of those who are pure in heart:
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Psalm 24:3-5
Now onto the backsliders, let’s see this verse below:
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. Proverbs 14:14
This clearly tells us that the backslider does not focus in The LORD at all, but it is all about him and what he wants.
Here is another verse about the backslidden:
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts. Jeremiah 2:19
This is GOD’s viewpoint upon the backslidden, that it is an evil and bitter thing, forsaking The LORD by putting HIM on the back of their minds; not thinking of the things of The LORD and having no fear of GOD in giving HIM respect and reverence.
Although, they had known these things because the backsliders are the ones who have at some point accepted CHRIST as their savior and have been covered by the blood. But, they have for whatever reasons drifted away from being faithful to GOD. The bride is faithful, but the backsliders are not. The backsliders don’t even want to hear about the truth because they don’t want to be reminded. They know where they should be and don’t want to let go of the things of this world. They are too caught up with the things of this world, which means they love the world more than The LORD.
We cannot love the world more than GOD, but to love GOD with all our heart, soul and mind. If we love the world; the love of the Father is not in us.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
Let’s look at other verses:
Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: Jeremiah 3:14
Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. Jeremiah 3:22
The LORD sees the backsliders are still belonging to HIM. HE wants to bring them back and heal them in what they have fallen into.
Here is a verse about the lost:
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Matthew 18:11
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:14
GOD does not wish for anyone to perish, although some do perish because GOD gave us free will to choose. Those who do not choose to come to The LORD and receive the free gift of salvation will perish. There are going to be something to occur to bring the backslidden and the lost back to HIM.
Below are verses about GOD towards the lost sheep:
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. Matthew 18:12-13
GOD wants NONE to perish. The one sheep is very precious in HIS eyes, and The LORD as the shepherd will do everything in HIS power to get the lost sheep back into the fold.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
Those believe not CHRIST as their savior, the wrath of GOD would abide on them. In conclusion, the pureness is in the bride, the backslidden believe but they are not faithful for they are drifted away from HIM, and the lost believe not; for they do not believe CHRIST of who HE is.
Part 3 shall be continued in another post.
