The LORD’s Prayer

From Matthew 6:9-13 (credit to King James Version Bible):

After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Commentary: This is a short prayer, although it is a powerful prayer to pray daily. Remember not to pray this prayer as a replacement to your prayer life. Communion with GOD is necessary, including quality prayers that led by the Spirit completely and out of your heartfelt thoughts, as though you are talking to a best friend; sharing your ups and lows in your daily life.

Take a note at this prayer’s format, it begins and ends with thanksgiving. We can follow the format of this prayer, and because we should give thanks in all things (1 Thessalonians 5:18). There is one thing about asking for forgiveness, it appears near the end of this prayer. Asking for forgiveness from GOD for our sins is a must, but we should not have the one above to replace our confession. Rather, we should have our own prayer that confess all sins we have committed against GOD and ask for forgiveness. (1 John 1:9) I would want to set this as first priority in all my prayers so that I would come clean before the LORD. See 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Summarize the format in 7 parts can be like this: 1) Dear GOD/Dear Heavenly Father/Dear Abba Father/etc. 2) Give thanks 3) Acknowledge that HIS will to be done through you and surrender your everything to GOD 4) Supplication: Ask for divine protection, complete guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT to guide us into HIS perfect plan and will to have a right standing with GOD, praying for the lost souls, surrender all before HIM; asking help for all your problems either big or small…etc. 5) Confess sins and ask for forgiveness over sins committed including unknown sins. Cover yourself in the blood of CHRIST.  Ask where you are not right with GOD. Examine your heart whether you have unforgiveness in your heart. You must forgive all to come clean before The LORD. 6) Ask for the complete filling of the HOLY SPIRIT to be an overcomer of all sins 7) Give thanks, ending with “Amen” that means “So be it”.

    1. Thank you for your nice words, Steve! Without The Lord, I wouldn’t have made it this far. God bless you for your hard effort on your site; surely it gives light to those who need it and salt to the body of Christ for their edification.

      1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Jessica! You are an “encourager” to others as well, aren’t you!

It is a gift from the Lord, as is our very life. None of us would even exist day to day if it wasn’t God’s will. In Him we “live and move and exist…” (Acts 17:28).

You keep on studying and posting and visit here as often as you like…

        Steve 🙂

      2. God bless you and keep on digging the word too! So much wonderful mysteries and meaning are in the bible to learn from. For those who focus in finding out the truth, they shall seek it and find it. 😀

      3. No truer words have ever been spoken, Jessica! God’s word is a living instrument which as timeless meaning. It also holds different insights for the diligent student even though we may have read the same scriptures over and over!

And yes, those who seek shall find, the hungry shall be fed! Always look for “more meaning,” but within the context of the passage…

Have a super day, my dear!

      4. And the same to you, Jessica. I don’t want to intrude, but may I ask what state or country you live in? I was trying to detect it from the way you write, now I’m curious.

Just wondering…You have a wonderful day and enjoy your blessings in the Lord as well!

      5. Oh wow, I hear it is beautiful “down under!” Thank you for sharing that. I live in the lower desert area of So. California.

I have been here for all but 2 yrs. of my life. I was born in Texas but my family wanted to live here.

        We’ll talk later on, Jessica!

      6. Really love the fresh air and food here! I have known about that California have quite a lot of major companies. How is life over there? Since I never been to the US, I’m curious now…

        God bless you, Steve!

      7. Well the economy isn’t as good here as the news or politicians would have people think! True is, the job market is lousy for most kinds of work…

But truthfully, I have never liked California. I’m not a “beach” kind of guy, and I like the rain much ore often than we get here in Ca.

But, I’ve been here for too long now and my opportunities to leave are fading fast! People think I’m nuts for not liking it here, but I’d leave here for Oregon or Washington state in a second!

      8. It is good to change places to live into when God leads you. I always move places to places just so you know, and I find out that different places have both their pros and cons, though it differs from person to person. I hope you are smoothly moving from state to state. Beaches are good, it is wonderful to have beaches for not all places have it. Although, I have read about news how the beaches are getting contaminated daily.

      9. That’s good to be able to move and see other places around God’s beautiful world!

As for me, I’m not in a position to move around much. I have a sick mother who my wife and I take care of. But I am hoping to be able to travel a bit once she “goes home” to the Lord and my wife retires.

Of course, that’s only if God allows that. He may have other plans for me. Time will tell, sometimes we get surprises.

Oh, and yes, the beaches are nice but the waters are contaminated a bit and more dangerous with sharks and such. I think something is happening to the “food chain” with both land and sea animals…

Talk to you later, Jessica. Have a super great day!

      11. Prayers are very powerful and we should pray unceasingly. Praying at every chance we get. One funny thing is that to pray when you eat if you dare to LOL… Cause you can’t speak when you eat yeah? And times when you ride a bike, walk the street, wait the bus…etc.

      13. I’m not sure exactly. It may be in how you conjugate, or something in the grammar. It’s not a criticism, it’s just the way in which you structure some replies.

Hey, I’m nobody to say anything. I thought it just sounded like perhaps you had lived in another area before Australia.

      14. Yes, I do sometimes make grammar errors and sentence structures. Need to be more careful when I write then…I did not edit most of my posts or all of them in word document and secondly, I should have been more careful. Thanks for telling me though.

      15. Jessica, please don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not criticizing nor judging you at all! I was simply saying that how you worded some things sounded as if you may be from another culture…

And yes, I always use spell-check, and all people who write should do so too. But it catches just the misspelled words for the most part.

Using correct grammar does involve study in order to learn how we say things properly. But I don’t see a lot of problems with that part of what you write.
